According to recent data from Korea Tire Manufactures Association (KOTMA), Kumho Tires topped sales charts with 6.52 million tyres sold in 2018 which accounts for 40% of all locally-produced tyres sold in Korea.
The brand’s stellar performance is largely due to the popular demand for its Majesty 9 Souls TA91 designed for high-end saloons and the Crugen HP71 premium touring tyres for SUVs. The Majesty 9 Souls TA91 has been well received by consumers due to its excellent comfort and low rolling noise.
Sales of the Crugen HP71 has increased by more than 155% compared to the same period in 2017 thanks to the growing SUV market in Korea.
Kumho was acquired by Chinese-owned Doublestar after the two signed a USD597.4 million deal for a controlling stake (45%) in the Korean tyre maker in 2018.
