Mazda CX-30 to be locally assembled in Indonesia as first CKD passenger car in nearly 30 years

The Mazda CX-30 will soon be locally assembled (CKD) in Indonesia starting from 29 July 2026, making it the first Mazda passenger vehicle to be assembled in the country in almost 30 years. In an official release, Mazda Motor Corporation said the move reinforces Indonesia’s position as one of its most important markets in the ASEAN region.

The local assembly in Indonesia will be carried out by PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), Mazda’s exclusive distributor in the region, together with its wholly owned subsidiary PT Eurokars Produksi Pratama (EPP). The vehicles will be assembled on a dedicated production line developed specifically for Mazda vehicles.

Mazda will support the production process to ensure the Indonesian-assembled models meet the same standards as those built at its other manufacturing facilities. The support covers human resource development, equipment supply, production engineering advice, and parts supply.

According to Mazda, the CKD project forms part of its Lean Asset Strategy, which prioritises collaboration with local vendors and partners to improve efficiency while making its vehicles more accessible through local production and distribution.

Mazda Senior Executive Officer, Toru Nakajima, said, “Indonesia is a key market for Mazda in the ASEAN region, following Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand in sales volume, and one where we expect continued growth. The start of local assembly of the Mazda CX-30 marks an important milestone in strengthening the Mazda brand and expanding our presence in Indonesia.”

The Mazda CX-30 in Malaysia is already offered as a CKD unit here, priced from RM125,819 to RM150,398 on the road, without insurance, and is available in four variants. All variants feature the same 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine producing 162 hp and 213 Nm of torque to the front wheels only via a six-speed automatic transmission.
