Honda Malaysia extends hybrid battery warranty coverage to 10 years

As part of its ‘Hybrid Done Right’ campaign, Honda Malaysia has announced a revised warranty programme for all of its hybrid models. Starting 1 May 2026, all new Honda e:HEV hybrid models sold in Malaysia will now come with a 10-year, unlimited mileage warranty for their hybrid battery and components.

These models will include the Honda City e:HEV, City Hatchback e:HEV, HR-V e:HEV, Civic e:HEV, and the new CR-V e:HEV. As a show of confidence to the durability and reliability of its hybrid systems, the same extended warranty will also be applied retroactively to not only existing owners of their e:HEV models, but also the previous-generation i-DCD (Jazz, City, HR-V) hybrid models.

As a result, the hybrid battery warranty coverage is extended from the current eight years to now 10 years with unlimited mileage, while selected hybrid components are now also covered by an extended warranty of up to 10 years, up from the previous five-year coverage.

Additionally, the new extended warranty is also transferrable to second-hand e:HEV and i-DCD owners, as such subsequent owners will still remain eligible for coverage when ownership is transferred, valid up to the 10th year of the warranty period.

The i-DCD (Intelligent Dual-Clutch Drive) powertrain made its debut in Malaysia back in 2017 with the Honda Jazz Sport Hybrid, which means the earliest the hybrid warranty would lapse will be next year. As for the e:HEV models, the twin-motor i-MMD (Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) hybrid system was introduced here together with the fifth-generation Honda City in 2021 – which means the warranty coverage for the hybrid battery and components will now last until at least 2031.

Honda Malaysia says the move is aimed at reinforcing their customers’ long-term confidence in its hybrid ecosystem, while also further enhancing ownership value of their cars.

The wider campaign is also designed to highlight the “strength and relevance” of its e:HEV hybrid technology in today’s evolving market, and will serve as a launchpad for the introduction of its flagship hybrid model, the all-new Honda Prelude, here in Malaysia very soon.
