No toll fare hikes for 10 highways in 2026 – including MEX, DUKE, SKVE, LATAR, LPT2, and Grand Saga

The Government will not be increasing toll fares on 10 major highways in 2026. The announcement came from a Facebook post from Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, after a cabinet meeting on 17 December.

Nanta added that the government will be bearing the financial implications in the form of compensation amounting to RM591.56 million for the year 2026. The government chose to do this to “prioritise the interests of the people” and to “ease the cost-of-living burden of the people”, he added.

The 10 highways which will retain their existing toll fares are:

  • Cheras–Kajang Expressway (GRANDSAGA)
  • Kuala Lumpur–Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR)
  • New North Klang Straits Bypass (NNKSB)
  • Senai–Desaru Expressway (SDE)
  • East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2)
  • South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE)
  • Duta–Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE)
  • Kuala Lumpur–Putrajaya Expressway (MEX)
  • Butterworth Outer Ring Road (LLB)
  • Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge

Nanta says that the decision aligns with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim previous announcement in July 2025, where he said the Government is committed to absorbing over RM500 million to prevent toll rate increases across 10 major highways nationwide.

It is also worth noting that the government previously deferred toll fare increases on three major highways in 2021, a move estimated to have cost approximately RM2.25 billion in compensation.

The statement concluded by reaffirming that the Ministry of Works will continue collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure the nation’s highways are managed sustainably, efficiently, and in line with the Madani Government’s objectives.
