Shortly after its global unveiling last week, PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) has now launched the Mitsubishi Destinator in the Indonesia at the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
Three variants of the Mitsubishi Destinator will be available in the archipelago, starting with the base GLS variant priced from IDR385 million (approx. RM100k), the Exceed variant starting from IDR405 million (approx. RM105k), and the flagship Ultimate variant starting from IDR465 million (approx. RM121k).
Most would probably consider the price a bargain, given that compact sedans like the Honda City and Toyota Vios start from IDR402 million (approx. RM104k) and IDR374 million (approx. RM97k) respectively.
The Mitsubishi Destinator is a C- to D-segment SUV that is similarly sized to the Honda CR-V but competes with cars such as the Mazda CX-8 and the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix in Indonesia due to its seven-seater configuration.
The car rocks a similar design philosophy to the Mitsubishi XForce, with strong vertical and horizontal lines, and Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield front fascia. The front grille features a three-dimensional look thanks to some clever visual trickery, while the pronounced wheel arches give the car a rugged look.
The Mitsubishi Destinator comes with LED headlights as standard, whereas the DRLs and fog lamps are reserved for higher variants. It also rides on 18-inch wheels by default, with the flagship Ultimate variant distinguished by two-tone 18-inch alloys.
Inside, the Mitsubishi Destinator features a four-inch digital meter cluster and an eight-inch infotainment display as standard. Higher variants upgrade to an eight-inch digital cluster and a larger 12.3-inch display, both with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The flagship variant adds faux leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and 64-colour ambient lighting.
All variants of the Mitsubishi Destinator will be powered by the same 1.5-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 163 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a CVT transmission.
As for safety, the notable standard equipment includes a rear-view camera, keyless entry, and Active Yaw Control (AYC). The flagship adds on with a surround view camera, automatic headlights, front rain sensor wiper, and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Additionally, an Ultimate Premium variant is also available with a starting price of IDR495 million (approx. RM128k). It adds a hands-free powered tailgate, power-adjustable seats, and an eight-speaker Yamaha Dynamic Sound system.
