Lamborghini Temerario lands in Malaysia – the Raging Bull’s new “entry-level” sports car with 920 hp hybrid V8

We all know by now that electrified powertrains mean insane power. And for Lamborghini, that means even their entry-level sports car now has 920 hp – bonkers, we know. Say hello to the Lamborghini Temerario, the Raging Bull’s third electrified model, which is now open for orders in Malaysia starting from RM1,350,000 before duties, taxes, and personalisation.

The Lamborghini Temerario is now the new entry point to Sant’Agata’s sports car line-up, replacing the Huracan. It’s powered by an electrified V8 engine (which Lamborghini calls a High Performance Electrified Vehicle, or HPEV for short), that for the first time in a Lamborghini sports car, features turbochargers as well – and two of them at that.

Despite dropping two cylinders, the “Hot V” twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 itself already makes 800 hp and 730 Nm, more than even the most potent version of its predecessor. The engine is paired to three axial-flux electric motors, one between the engine and the eight-speed DCT gearbox plus two on the front axle, to raise its total output up to the aforementioned 920 hp.

In performance terms, that’s the century sprint completed in just 2.7 seconds (0.2s quicker than the Performante and Evo), onward to a top speed of 343 km/h. Lightweight materials such as cast aluminium alloy cylinder heads and titanium connecting rods, alongside the flat-plane crankshaft, allows the Temerario to rev all the way up to 10,000 rpm, ensuring that it’ll still drive just like a Lamborghini should.

Each electric motor on the front axle generating 82 hp each, making the Lamborghini Temerario technically an all-wheel drive vehicle – although most of its drive is still sent to the back, and there’s also a “drift mode” to help drivers execute smokier controlled sliding. The P1 motor, located between the engine and gearbox, meanwhile acts as a “torque gap filler” ensuring more immediate throttle response.

The electric motors are juiced by a 3.8 kWh battery pack, similar to the Lamborghini Revuelto, and can be charged using a 7 kW AC charger in approximately 30 minutes. That said, it really wasn’t designed with manual charging in mind, with additional charging modes (courtesy of the V8 engine) able to recharge the battery in just six minutes.

You’ll be able to drive the Temerario in full electric mode, although Lamborghini did not report its electric driving range. We don’t think many buyers actually care, anyway.

Designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile, the company says that the all-new Temerario has opened a “fresh chapter” in the company’s design language, with styling touches that “points towards the future of Lamborghini’s legendary mid-engine sports cars”. That said, you’ll still find many elements that are referencing its many predecessors, most notably its sleek wedge shape.

The slim headlights up front are recessed into the multi-faceted bonnet, while the unique hexagonal-shape of the daytime-running lights (DRL) – a signature element for Lamborghini – is also mirrored onto the tail lights at the back.

The same hexagonal shape can also be found on other parts of the exterior design, including the side air intakes and in the exhaust tailpipes, and uniquely the daytime-running lights up front also hides the radar sensor as well as an air tunnel for the brakes, integrating from and function.

On that note, Lamborghini says that the Temerario has achieved “the peak of aerodynamic efficiency”, attaining the holy trinity of high-speed stability, increased cooling performance, and maximum braking efficiency in its design.

Every fascia of the car – including both above and underneath – has been designed with aero in mind, and as a result the Temerario boasts an 103% increase in rear downforce compared to the Huracan Evo, and a whopping 158% with the Alleggerita (lightweight) Pack – all while reducing its weight by up to 25 kg.

A new brake cooling concept has also improved the overall system efficiency, resulting in 50% better calliper cooling and 20% increase in disc cooling over the Huracan Evo.

The Temerario also now features a full lightweight aluminium chassis, a departure from the Huracan’s mixed aluminum and carbon fibre construction. Lamborghini says this new chassis design offers a 50% reduction in material usage, eliminates 80% of heat-welded joints, and significantly improves torsional rigidity. These advancements contribute to a reduction in overall vehicle weight.

Inside, the hexagonal motif is once again in full display, demonstrated by the dashboard layout itself. Creature comfort ammenities include a central 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display, alongside a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, and a separate 9.1-inch letterbox-style screen for the passenger.

Lamborghini says that the main upgrade in the Temerario, however, is its enhanced space on the inside, with improved headroom and legroom to accommodate taller passengers – even when wearing a helmet. Additionally, there are also more space for storage, headlined by the 112-litre stowage area under the front bonnet, capable of storing two cabin luggages. Other everyday items can be stowed behind the seats, Lamborghini says.

As standard, the car is available with new staggered 20- and 21-inch cast wheels in three finishes, complemented by two new dedicated colours, Blu Marinus (blue) and Verde Mercurius (green).

However, as always, customers can also personalise their car to their heart’s content through the Ad Personam programme offering over 400 body colours and special liveries, forged and carbon wheel options, carbon fibre exterior and interior elements, as well as the Alleggerita pack.
