BMW Malaysia teases all-new X3, 2 Series Gran Coupe – to debut at My BMW World this weekend

BMW Malaysia has teased two upcoming car launches at the upcoming My BMW World event, happening from June 13 to 15, 2025 at The Yard, Sentul Depot, Kuala Lumpur.

A short video, posted on their Facebook page, shows two cars obscured by a veil, although their silhouettes – one an SUV and the otehr a sedan – along with glimpses of their headlight signatures and front bumper designs revealed the two models to be the all-new fourth-generation BMW X3 (G45) and the all-new second-generation BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe (F74).

First unveiled back in June 2024, the fourth-generation BMW X3 looks drastically different from its predecessor, with a design that has cues of the fully electric (EV) BMW iX and the BMW iX2.

On its global debut, the BMW X3 was offered with four powertrains. These include:

  • 20d xDrive with 197 hp and 400 Nm
  • 20 xDrive with 208 hp and 330 Nm
  • 30e xDrive plug-in hybrid with 299 hp and 450 Nm
  • M50 xDrive with 398 hp and 580 Nm

Currently, BMW Malaysia offers the outgoing BMW X3 in three variants: the sDrive20i M Sport, xDrive30e M Sport, and xDrive30i M Sport, priced from RM304,800 to RM353,800. We’ll assume that the fourth-generation BMW X3, upon its Malaysian launch, will continue to be offered in these same variants – albeit with a new naming scheme as above.

For the interior, the fourth-generation BMW X3 boasts an all-new, futuristic design. It features ambient lighting strips that surround the centre console, which includes an iDrive controller, and a dashboard that houses a BMW Curved Display.

As for the second-generation BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, the all-new model certainly looks more angsty compared to the current 2 Series Gran Coupé on sale in Malaysia, sporting a more angular design that seemingly looks like a mashup between the 3 Series and the 5 Series.

It made its debut globally back in October 2024 with three powertrains, including:

  • BMW 218d Gran Coupe with 150 hp and 360 Nm
  • BMW 220 Gran Coupe with 170 hp and 280 Nm
  • BMW M235 X Drive Gran Coupe with 300 hp and 400 Nm

Currently, the sole available variant of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe in Malaysia is the BMW 218i Gran Coupe, priced from RM221,800. This model features a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 138 hp and 220 Nm, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. If we were to guess, BMW Malaysia might offer the 220 Gran Coupe here upon the launch of the second-generation BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe in Malaysia.

Unlike the futuristic design of the fourth-generation BMW X3, the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe’s interior sports a more conventional layout, largely resembling that of the all-new X1 and X2 models (and their electric counterparts).

While not as modern-looking as its larger sibling, this all-new cabin still packs a screen-heavy punch, featuring a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen for infotainment, both housed under a single piece of glass.

Information on the two cars in Malaysia, as always, is scant for now – although we should be hearing more about them very soon. Keep your eyes peeled as we bring you the latest coverage!
