Geely has launched the Radar King Kong EM-P in China – and yes, that really is its name. It’s the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant of the existing King Kong/RD6 electric pickup truck, and according to CarNewsChina, it’ll enter international markets under the global Riddara brand, to be known as the Riddara RD6 EM-P.
Offered in three variants, with either standard or long bed options, the Radar King Kong EM-P is priced from RMB139,800 (approx. RM82k) to RMB159,800 (approx. RM94k) in China.
The main difference from the fully electric (EV) variant of the Radar King Kong, which launched in Thailand last year as the Riddara RD6, is the PHEV powertrain, consisting of a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), and two electric motors driving all four wheels.
This series-parallel setup delivers a combined output of 354 hp (260 kW) and a staggering 914 Nm of torque, which allows the Radar King Kong EM-P to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds, and reach 100 km/h when fully loaded in 8.6 seconds.

Paired with a 19.09 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack and a 60 litre fuel tank, the Radar King Kong EM-P boasts a combined range of 1,068 km in hybrid mode, and a pure electric range of 100 km under the more lenient CLTC testing cycle.
Fuel consumption for the Radar King Kong EM-P is rated at 1.5 L/100 km with a fully charged battery, or 6.4 L/100 km when it’s empty.
The pickup truck also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L), supplying up to 22 kW. It features four off-road driving modes: Snow, Mud, Off-road, and Sand. According to Geely, an unloaded Radar King Kong EM-P can climb a 45-degree slope, whereas when fully loaded with a peak capacity of 1,000 kg, it can traverse a 33-degree incline.
Externally, the Radar King Kong EM-P is pretty much identical to its EV sibling, save for new air intakes on the front bumper and the front grille. Dimension-wise, the pickup truck measures 5,260 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,865 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm when configured with the standard bed.
With the longer truck bed, the wheelbase extends to 3,310 mm, and the length increases to 5,500 mm. For context, this is longer than the Toyota Hilux in Malaysia.
For interior features, the Radar King Kong EM-P is configured as a five-seater and comes with a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system display and a 10.2-inch LCD driver’s digital gauge cluster.
