The JAC T9 and JAC T9EV has launched in Malaysia today as two radically different variants to the Chinese pickup-truck, the former being a pure turbodiesel variant and the latter being the first fully electric (EV) pickup truck on sale in the country. The JAC T9 will begin at RM119,888 and JAC T9EV at RM199,888 on-the-road (OTR) without insurance.

Visually speaking, both pickups look nearly identical to each other on the outside. The only difference that separates the two from the outside is the front grille where the JAC logo is. Whereas the JAC T9 has a silver logo, the JAC T9EV has a blue one to denote its EV configuration.
Standard exterior features shared by both variants are:
- LED headlights
- LED daytime running lamps
- LED taillights
- Automatic headlights
- Follow-me-home headlights
- Adaptive headlights
- Electrically-adjustable side mirrors
- Heated side mirrors
- Auto-folding side mirrors
- Two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels
The JAC T9 and JAC T9EV will be coming in five colour options: Red, black, dark grey, silver, and white. In addition, you also get two choices of interior colours: black and brown.
Inside of both the JAC T9 and JAC T9EV, there are some notable differences to be found in the cabin. Both share the same 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and both have seven-inch digital instrument displays right in front of the driver.
However, where the differences begin is in the front seat department. For the JAC T9, both front seats get power adjustment settings, whilst the JAC T9EV only has the driver’s seat to be electrically-adjustable.
Furthermore, the transmission selector lever and 4WD selector dial found on the JAC T9 is now replaced with a single rotary selector in the JAC T9EV.

Now for the biggest elephant in the room separating the two cars: The JAC T9 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbodiesel four-cylinder engine with 170 hp and 410 Nm of torque, this is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a part time 4×4 drivetrain, while top speed is rated at 150 km/h.
Meanwhile, the JAC T9EV has a pair of electric motors on both front and rear axles, which produces a total of 299 hp (220 kW) and 516 Nm of torque sent down to its 4×4 drivetrain. The EV pickup is capable of a century sprint time of 8.4 seconds before finally reaching its top speed of 140 km/h.
Under the hood of the JAC T9EV – in place of where the diesel engine used to be – is the 88.02 kWh CATL-sourced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack with 340 km of WLTP-rated EV range. AC and DC charging is supported, with 11 kW AC charging going from 15-80% in over eight hours and 30 minutes while 88 kWh DC charging takes 45 minutes to go from 15-80%.
The JAC T9 and JAC T9EV will go on sale for RM119,888 and RM199,888 respectively. The T9 diesel variant comes with an eight-year unlimited mileage engine warranty for the first owner, and a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
Meanwhile, the JAC T9EV is inclusive of a six-year or 200,000km warranty for the LFP battery pack.
