Kia EV4 details revealed – Brand’s first EV sedan and hatchback

The Kia EV4 has finally made its official debut, with full details of the model finally revealed at the Kia EV Day that took place in Tarragona, Spain. As shown earlier this month, the Kia EV4 will be available as both a four-door sedan and a five-door hatchback, the former aimed squarely at the Tesla Model 3, and the latter competing against the MG4 EV.

Like its other EV siblings including the EV3, EV6, and EV9, the Kia EV4 will also be built on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

On top of being available in sedan or hatchback variants, both also come in two different variants each: Base and Long Range. The Base variants is equipped with a 58.3 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack for a WLTP-rated range of 430 km for the sedan version, and 410 km for the hatchback.

The Long Range variant meanwhile has a larger 81.4 kWh NMC battery pack which gives it longer range at 630 km for the sedan and 610 km for the hatch.

Both variants – no matter their bodystyle – boast the same outputs at 204 hp (150 kW) and top speed at 170 km/h, although their century sprint times differ because of the extra weight of the bigger battery: 7.4 seconds on the Base, and 7.7 seconds for the Long Range.

As for charging, Kia did not disclose specific numbers but mentions that the Base variant can be recharged from 10-100% in five hours and 20 minutes, while 10-80% using a DC fast charger will take 29 minutes.

The Kia EV4 is also loaded with convenience and connectivity features, some of which can be done through your smartphone. Digital Key 2.0 allows for entry, vehicle start, and remote-control functions for up to 15 devices – even through Apple Watch. Over-the-air (OTA) updates can also be done through the phone as well.

On the inside, the Kia EV4 sees a 30-inch wide-screen display spanning from the driver side’s half of the dashboard – split in three parts as 12.3-inch, 5.3-inch, and 12.3-inch screens respectively.

Safety features of the Kia EV4 include advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist 2, Lane following Assist 2, and Remote Parking Assist Entry.

On top of that, Kia’s Driving Package F+ (‘Drive Wise’) ADAS further augments driver safety using cameras and sensors to assist in safe driving and maneuvering.

The Kia EV4 will be built in different assembly plants. The sedan variants will be built in South Korea at Kia’s Autoland Gwangmyeong EVO Plant, while the hatchback variants will be built in Slovakia for the European market.

Sales for the Kia EV4 will begin starting in Korea in March, followed by Europe during the second half of 2025 and the United States following suit. Kia has not revealed details of the prices yet.
