Denza has opened pre-sales in China for its new flagship plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV, the Denza N9, with prices starting at RMB450,000 to RMB550,000 (approx.RM272k to RM333k). The Denza N9 PHEV will officially make its market debut in March 2025, followed by an all-electric (EV) version later this year, CarNewsChina reports.
The Denza N9 is a big SUV, measuring 5,258 mm long, 2,030 mm wide, and 1,830 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. By the numbers, it’ll come in even larger than the Denza D9 MPV, which was only recently launched in Malaysia.
According to CarNewsChina, the Denza N9 PHEV is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine making 206 hp, paired with three electric motors . The motors make between 217 hp (front axle) or 326 hp (rear wheels), culminating in a max output of 924 hp in total. Juicing the electric motors is a 46.992 kWh BYD Blade battery pack.
BYD says the Denza N9 PHEV can hit 0-100 km/h in under 3 seconds, with a pure electric range of 200 km (CLTC) and a total range of 1,300 km. As for the EV variant, it’ll be powered by three electric motors for a total output of 965 hp (710 kW).

The Denza N9 is based on the company’s e3 platform, which means it can do cool stuff like tank turns, crab walk, and rear-wheel steering. It also gets BYD’s DiSus-A intelligent air body control system for improved comfort.
Inside, the N9 is equipped with three displays, which consist of a 17.3-inch touchscreen in the middle, a 13.2-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 13.2-inch screen for the front passenger. Plus, there’s also a 50-inch AR-HUD and even screens for the side mirrors.
The centre console houses a fridge, and the middle-row seats are equipped with electric leg rests, ventilation, heating, and even massage functions. Rear passengers get access to a large ceiling mounted display, small tables, a separate touchscreen for various vehicular controls, and a dedicated fridge.
Not much is known about the safety systems of the Denza N9, but based on the images, it looks like it will be equipped with LiDAR sensors, and BYD says it will be equipped with BYD’s “God’s Eye” intelligent driving assistance system, which has 5G network connectivity and access to DeepSeek’s R1 large-language AI model.
