With the barrage of EV launches in Malaysia, seeing a V12 is really like spotting a unicorn. In this case, it’s a proper unicorn as the V12 comes in the form of the Ferrari 12Cilindri, which is now officially on sale here in Malaysia starting from RM4.7 million for the Berlinetta version, and RM5.1 million for the Spider.
That’s right, the Ferrari 12Cilindri will be available in Spider form right from its official launch – and you’d probably want that as well, since that’s still the best way to sample the glorious V12 engine.
On that note, the sonorous beating heart underneath the long bonnet is a new 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 mill, now squeezing out a whopping 830 hp and 678 Nm as it screams all the way up to 9,500 rpm. As with all good Ferrari grand tourers, it’s mounted in front of the driver in a front-mid configuration, with power sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed DCT gearbox.
The new V12 engine represents a significant 30 hp increase over its predecessor in the 812 Superfast, which the Ferrari engine artisans have achieved through a variety of hardware and software tweaks that we can only describe as black magic. In practice, that’s 0-100 km/h done in just 2.9 seconds; 0-200 km/h in under 7.9 seconds, and a top speed of 340 km/h.

And if you’re a Ferrari romantic, you’d also be glad to find the many retrolicious design inspirations on the 12Cilindri, including the classic Berlinetta silhouette and the new “black screen” grille that is seemingly inspired by the 365 GTB/4 Daytona.
To preserve its sleek curves, Ferrari has incorporated the “active flaps” spoilers into the corners of the Delta Wing black panel at the rear, only deploying when needed. Despite located only at the edges of the rear deck instead of across the entire boot lid, the active aero appendages are already capable of generating 50 kg of downforce at 250 km/h!
There’s a lot more to learn about Ferrari’s new 12 cylinder masterpiece, so be sure to watch the full video above.
