The long-awaited Chery Omoda E5 has finally made its launch in Malaysia. Offered in a single variant only, the all-electric SUV can be yours at RM146,800 (OTR, without insurance).
Design-wise, it isn’t hard to see that the Omoda E5 is designed based on the internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered Omoda 5. Differences here include the closed-off front panel, automatic cooling shutters, a set of 18-inch wheels, and a front-mounted charging port which Chery says simplifies the charging process as customers won’t need to worry about which way to park the car.
Exterior equipment included with the Chery Omoda E5 are as follows:

- 18-inch aerodynamic-focused alloy wheels

Powering the Chery Omoda E5 in Malaysia is a single electric motor setup, producing 204 hp (metric) and 340 Nm. The all-electric SUV can be charged at a maximum AC charging rate of 9.9 kW, and can also handle DC charging rate at a maximum charging rate of 80 kW. The latter can juice the car up from 30 to 80% in 28 minutes.
Just in case you need to power other equipment, the Omoda E5 also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality at an output of 3.3 kW. The powertrain and further technical details of the Chery Omoda E5 in Malaysia are as follows:

Inside, the Chery Omoda E5 in Malaysia sports a redesigned dashboard, with a touch-screen console that replaces the touch-panel climate control panel present in the regular Omoda 5. There are also two floating 10.25-inch screens which act as the digital instrument display and the touchscreen infotainment display. There is also the Qualcmomm 8155 chip which is said to provide smoother operation, especially on the screen.

Safety-wise, the Chery Omoda E5 sports the brand’s ADAS 2.5 advanced driver assistance systems. This safety system is slightly more advanced than the one found in the regular Omoda 5, as it adds on a driver monitoring system.

Included with the Chery Omoda E5’s price tag are a 7-year/150,000km vehicle warranty, an 8-year/160,000km battery warranty, and an 8-year/160,000km drive unit warranty which covers the power motor, power motor control unit, power battery management system and the vehicle’s control unit. Additionally, Chery Malaysia is also offering a one-to-one exchange if the battery’s state of health falls below 70% during the warranty period.
The first 2,000 customers to drop a booking for the Chery Omoda E5 will enjoy a complimentary wall box charger, V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) charger, along with charging credits worth RM1,000 at EVC charging roaming partners. Chery Malaysia is the first brand to partner with energy solutions provider EVC in Malaysia. Additionally, Maybank is offering an all-exclusive 2.08% low-interest rate when customers purchase the Omoda E5 during the promotional period (terms and conditions apply).
