Chery celebrates 15 million vehicles with a global roll-off party that didn’t leave out Malaysia

15 million vehicles is no small feat and understandably, Chery Group is chuffed about hitting that milestone. To mark the occasion, they celebrated with a global roll-off of cars from production lines simultaneously in four countries; Egypt, Brazil, Kazakhstan and Malaysia.

Malaysia being part of the global celebration is a strong reflection of the country’s crucial role in the brand’s global strategy. Malaysia stands out as a gateway to other right-hand drive markets in the region, a huge component of Chery’s expansion across five continents.

They won’t be resting on their laurels though as the group is already looking forward to the next 15 million vehicles. The strategy for that will centre on shaping a unique user experience, advanced technology, and steering towards global expansion with the goal not just being limited to boosting sales but also to enhance product quality, optimise structure, and elevate brand value, the company says.

Chery also rolled out the Tiggo 8 at its Brazil manufacturing facility, contributing to the company’s 15 millionth vehicle milestone and many more to come. The Tiggo series has established itself as a leading global model, earning widespread trust in key markets such as Brazil, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and Ecuador.

Globally, the Tiggo 8 has surpassed one million units in sales. Locally, the Tiggo 8 Pro was introduced in 2023 during the brand’s launch and is currently assembled at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah.

The Tiggo 8 has also earned plenty of accolades, among them being South Africa’s 2023 Motor Enthusiasts’ Choice award, Mexico’s Top Midsize SUV, and the Philippines’ Best Midsize Crossover at the recent 19th Annual C! Awards.

Ever since Chery’s first vehicle rolled off the line on December 18, 1999, the company has maintained its position as China’s top passenger car exporter for 21 consecutive years that saw the brand expand its business to over 100 countries.

For 2024, the group has sold 1,752,793 units up to the end of September 2024, a 39.9% year-on-year increase. Exports alone account for 829,353 units, a 24.5% year-on-year increase.

Chery’s dual-track strategy of focusing on both domestic and international markets has resulted in substantial growth as exports make up nearly half of sales. The company has shown impressive performance in both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and new energy vehicle sectors (NEV).

ICE vehicle sales rose by 24.9% compared with 2023 while NEV sales grew by an astounding 186%, offering definitive proof that Chery’s well-balanced approach is spot on.
