Porsche continues its rapid-fire release of updated 911 models. Hot on the heels of the refreshed 992.2 Carrera and the GT3, the Carrera T now joins the line-up – and there’s good news for those who love open-top driving: for the first time, the 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera T is available as a Cabriolet, alongside the Coupe.
Staying true to the Carrera T ethos, the 992.2 version is a full 40 kg lighter than the standard 911 Carrera in its lightest configuration. Adding to its purist appeal, both the Coupe and Cabriolet variants are available exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox, ditching the PDK option offered in the previous generation.
Powering the 992.2 Carrera T is the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine found in the standard Carrera, producing 394 hp and 450 Nm. This allows the Coupe to sprint to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, while the Cabriolet takes 4.7 seconds. Top speed is 295 km/h for the Coupe and 293 km/h for the Cabriolet.
Enhancing the driving experience for purists, the 992.2 Carrera T introduces an auto-blip function to its six-speed manual gearbox. This function automatically matches engine speed during downshifts, ensuring smooth and precise gear changes—making rowing through the gears a more engaging and rewarding experience, although you can of course still turn it off if you think you can do it better than the car.
With a standard sports exhaust system and reduced sound insulation, the new 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera T promises an exhilarating soundtrack. Expect to be surrounded by the glorious howl of the flat-six engine.
The 992.2 Carrera T rides on 20/21-inch alloy wheels taken from the Carrera S. To match the increase in performance, Porsche has equipped the Carrera T with larger brakes, featuring 350 mm all-round brake discs and six-piston calipers at the front.
To emphasise it’s manual-only status, Porsche has added H-pattern stickers to the rear quarter windows of the 992.2 Carrera T. The car also features signature Vanadium Grey accents on the model designation, rear lid grille, side mirrors, and wheels. The spoiler lip is borrowed from the 911 Carrera GTS.
Inside, the new 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera T comes standard with the Sport Chrono package. A standout feature is the shortened gear lever, topped with an open-pore walnut gear knob—a nod to classic Porsches. An “MT” (Manual Transmission) badge sits proudly in front of the gear knob, a subtle reminder of the car’s purist focus. A leather-wrapped and heated GT sports steering wheel is also standard.
Interested? While official Malaysian pricing is yet to be announced, Porsche Malaysia website indicates that the Carrera T is open for price enquiries. In the UK, the Carrera T is priced at £111,300 (approx. RM636k) for the Coupe and £121,300 (approx. RM693k) for the Cabriolet.
