Seeing is believing and even though there are countless videos of the BYD Yangwang U9 dancing and hopping, there’s nothing like seeing it with our own eyes. It was truly surreal.
Aside from the movements of the Yangwang U9 in the video, the Yangwang U9 can also hop. Yes, we’re talking about air time. This is the result of BYD’s first self-developed body control system called the Disus-X system. It includes the Intelligent Damping Body Control, Intelligent Air Body Control System and Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System.
Obviously, the system was not built so that you can have jumping cars. Instead, the system is meant to reduce the risk of vehicle rollover and reduce passenger movement during high-speed or emergency maneuvers.
That’s not all. Even if the Yangwang U9 is only on three wheels, the chassis will remain level so you can continue driving. That’s what you’d call a game-changer.
The Yangwang U9 is fitted with four electric motors producing a whopping 1,300 hp and 1,680 Nm. As a result, its 0-100 km/h time is just 2.36 seconds, with a top speed of 309 km/h.
Even though the claimed top speed is only 309 km/h, BYD recently showed that its EV supercar is capable of much more. Just a week ago, the company released a video of the supercar reaching a top speed of 375 km/h on a test track in China. You can see to believe here.
