Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia has launched the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 with a price tag of RM267,990. Locally assembled (CKD), the Golf GTI Edition 50 celebrates the Golf’s 50th anniversary and it is a Malaysia-exclusive model. The European market’s 50th anniversary is based on the regular Mk 8.5 Volkswagen Golf.
The Golf GTI Edition 50 gains some exclusive accessories including an Oetingger bodykit comprised of a black-finished front splitter, roof spoiler, and diffuser. Other accessories include black-painted side mirror caps and a special “Edition 50” VW tint.
The car is matched up with 18-inch ‘Pretoria’ lightweight wheels finished in gloss black with ‘GTI’ Dynamic center caps and VW Design aluminium valve caps. The Golf GTI Edition 50 gets exclusive exterior trims including “50” exterior emblems on the B-pillars and a decal on the side of the car that is inspired by the honeycomb front grille motif.
Interior-wise, special for the Golf GTI Edition 50 are “Edition 50” side scuff plates, “Edition 50” carpet mats, and a “50” emblem in the centre spoke on the steering wheel. Other features worth highlighting are the 10-speaker 480-watt Harman Kardon sound system, a 10-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Powering the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 is still the same 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, making 245 hp (metric) and 370 Nm. Paired with a 7-speed DSG (wet) dual-clutch transmission, power is sent to the front wheels only.
In the safety department, the car is offered with the IQ.DRIVE safety suite which includes items like forward collision warning (FCW), autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), blind-spot monitor (BSM), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), as well as lane departure warning (LDW), and lane-keep assist (LKAS).
The Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 is available in two exclusive colors: Oryx White and Moonstone Grey. Priced at RM267,990, this model includes the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP), which includes 5 years of maintenance, 5 years of unlimited mileage warranty, and 5 years of roadside assistance.
