Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance unveiled – RWD “EV Golf GTI” with 321 hp


Volkswagen has just unveiled its hottest EV yet, namely the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance. Compared to the “regular” ID.3 GTX, the ID.3 GTX Performance has an upgraded battery capacity, and it is equipped with the most powerful electric motor ever in the Volkswagen lineup, and it gets a faster charging speed.

On the outside, the ID.3 GTX Performance has a GTX-specific front bumper, blacked-out air intakes, LED daytime running lights (DRL), LED headlights, illuminated “VW” logo, and 20-inch “Skagen” alloy rims finished in black. It also has full LED taillights and a blackout trunk and spoiler.

Powering the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance is a rear-mounted electric motor rated for an output of 321 hp (metric) and 545 Nm of torque which allow the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. It comes with a 79 kWh battery, enabling a WLTP range of 601 km. With a 185 kW DC fast charging capability, the ID.3 GTX Performance takes 26 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.

Volkswagen has tuned the suspension system to the GTX-specific settings with a stronger stabiliser bar compared to the “regular” ID.3 GTX. The basic suspension layout consists of a MacPherson front axle and a five-link rear axle. The car also comes with sport-setting Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) and Volkswagen’s Dynamic Vehicle Manager for sportier driving and refined suspension control.

Interior-wise, the ID.3 GTX Performance comes with the “GTX” lettering on the headrest, red stitching on the seats, dashboard, door trims, and steering wheel, the latest software system, a 12.9-inch infotainment display, and a voice assistant with built-in ChatGPT. A heads-up display and Harman Kardon’s premium sound system are optional features.

On the safety side, the ID.3 GTX Performance comes with adaptive cruise control (ACC), autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, lane keep assist (LKA), oncoming vehicle braking when turning function, road sign display, and Car2X traffic hazard alert.
