Proton X50 regains market leadership in July 2024 with 2,585 units sold

Local carmaker Proton has announced that its B-segment crossover, the Proton X50 recently regained its market leadership in July. In that month, 2,585 units of the Proton X50 were sold, also marking its best-ever monthly sales performance in 2024.

The Proton X50 has always been a dominant player in its segment since its launch in October 2020. In fact, to date, almost 120,000 units of the car have been sold. However, it has faced some challenges with the emergence of updated competitors from Japanese manufacturers and new competitors from Chinese manufacturers. However, Proton reports that the X50 has managed to secure a 10.3% market share in the SUV segment in the first 6 months of the year, easily outpacing other vehicles in the same market segment.

Proton has also recently updated the X50 with a 2024 update that sees improvements in NVH levels, overall driving comfort, and better amenities. The infotainment system of the X%0 has been upgraded with a now-standard 10.3-inch display and the Proton Link App. Proton has also upgraded the 360° camera system with a 3D Live Feed. Lastly, the Flagship and Premium variants of the X50 have been upgraded with a standard powered tailgate.

Proton Edar Chief Executive Officer, Roslan Abdullah said, “July’s sales performance for the 2024 Proton X50 is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team at Proton who listened closely to customer feedback. The model’s blend of performance, safety, and connectivity continues to resonate with our customers, thus satisfying their needs.”

“At the same time, Proton has made local production improvements and the customer-centric enhancements have kept the Proton X50 ahead of the pack. Going forward, Proton will continue to innovate and deliver exceptional value to our customers, reinforcing our position as a key player in the automotive industry.”
