Everyone loves the Jimny, but let’s be honest – unless you’re buying it as your third or fourth car, or have no friends and family, it’s an unrealistic daily for the most of us. But that all changes now, because the 2024 Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is now officially here in Malaysia, and it’s yours from RM199,950.
Like it says on its name, the Jimny 5-Door is just a Suzuki Jimny, but slightly extended to afford two extra doors. Everything else is essentially unchanged – it’s got the same iconic boxy design, same 16-inch wheels, same ride height, and same
Even the powertrain is unchanged – underneath the bonnet is still the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated inline-four engine, making 102 hp and 130 Nm, with power transferred to the wheels via a four-speed automatic gearbox and a part-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system with low-range transfer case. 0-100 km/h? It doesn’t matter in a Jimny, but it’s 17.2 seconds.
The difference is that the Jimny 5-Door now has actual rear seats with proper legroom and ISOFIX mounts, and it’s also still got some cargo room behind (211L) even with the seats folded up.
And as an extra bonus, the new 2024 Suzuki Jimny 5-Door in Malaysia also comes with a handful of additional (and much appreciated!) creature comfort additions, including a larger nine-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, alongside six airbags instead of the two from before… finally.
