It looks like we will be able to see the first ever all-electric Proton e.MAS much earlier than expected. Although targeted for a launch/debut in the fourth quarter of the year, Proton e.MAS is now teasing its first electric car through its social media page and it is set to be unveiled on Friday, August 2, 2024.
Shown in a heavily shadowed image, the side profile of the Proton e.MAS can be seen and it can be confirmed that it will be based on the Geely Galaxy E5 ( that has been speculated for a while). Published yesterday, the number 3 in the poster indicates that the car will be unveiled this Friday.

Proton has also released an earlier teaser showcasing several side profiles of a few of the upcoming Proton e.MAS vehicles. This includes a sedan, a hatchback, and an SUV. The sedan is likely an electrified Proton S70 and the hatchback still remains a mystery at least for now. What we do know now is that the SUV will be the pilot model of Proton’s new EV sub-brand.
With the Geely Galaxy E5 as the “donor” model, the Proton e.MAS SUV will likely share the same mechanical underpinnings. This includes its powertrain which is a single-motor front-wheel drive (FWD) setup that makes 218 hp (metric) and 320 Nm. Two battery options are available with either a smaller 49.52 kWh battery or a 60.22 kWh battery. The former gives 440 km of range while the latter gives 530 km of range (CLTC).
Proton’s e.MAS sub-brand was unveiled in June 2024. A comprehensive ecosystem for electric cars is reportedly in the works and about 17 dealerships have been appointed so far. In just a short period, Proton looks to be ready to deploy its fully electric strategy with the introduction of its first EV model. If the trademark applications were to tell us anything, the first model may just be known as the Proton e.MAS7.
