Following the recent unveiling of the fourth-generation BMW 1 Series, patent images of its upcoming successor, the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe (F74), have surfaced online courtesy of Dutch publication, AutoWeek. The new model is expected to debut before the end of 2024 and features an evolutionary design that addresses some of the styling criticisms leveled at its predecessor.
The upcoming 2 Series Gran Coupe features a revised front fascia with slimmer headlights, vertical air intakes, and a prominent, near-hexagonal lower grille. This design motif aligns with the design language established by the 1 Series, incorporating the signature diagonal grille pattern.

Flush-fitting door handles are a potential design element for the upcoming BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. These handles are visible in side profile images and could contribute to a sleeker appearance and improved aerodynamics. However, the presence of traditional door handles in front and rear views suggests these flush-fitting handles might be a design concept rather than a confirmed feature.
The rear of the vehicle features redesigned taillights, drawing inspiration from the latest X2 model. The iconic BMW roundel is repositioned higher on the boot lid, allowing for a cleaner aesthetic by elevating the number plate.

In Malaysia, BMW released the 218i Gran Coupe Final Edition back in June 2024. As the name suggests, it should be a run-out swansong model for the current 2 Series, before an all-new model is unveiled and eventually makes its way onto our shores. Locally assembled here in Malaysia, the new BMW 218i Gran Coupe Final Edition is priced at RM244,400 on the road and without insurance, inclusive of the extended five-year warranty and free service package.
