All-new Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance teased for Malaysia, along with GLA45 S & GLB35 facelift

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has just dropped a teaser on its social media pages, previewing three new models it will be launching soon at the upcoming Mercedes-Benz World event. Buried in the shadows, with just their headlights and radiator grilles exposed, the three models in question could be the all-new Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance, as well as the facelifted GLB35 and GLA45 S.

The all-new Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance is, unlike its predecessor, powered by an engine with half the number of cylinders, namely a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, rather than a V8. But thanks to help from an electric motor, its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system makes a combined system output of 680 hp and 1,020 Nm. Paired with a 9-speed AMG Speedshift gearbox, power is sent to all four wheels via the German marque’s 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Looking at the teaser image of the Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance shared by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, the performance sedan seems to be specifically the F1 Edition. This gives it a series of red highlights along its body kit and wheels for a more aggressive look. We will have to see if this will be offered as standard equipment when the C63 S makes its launch here in Malaysia.

Powering the facelifted Mercedes-AMG GLA45 S is a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-4 powertrain that makes 421 hp and 500 Nm without any electrical assistance. Also found under the hood of the A45 S hot hatch, this mill is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and sends power to all four wheels via the 4MATIC+ AWD system.

Last but not least is the Mercedes-AMG GLB35 facelift, which is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-4 engine that has been electrified thanks to a 48-volt integrated starter generator (ISG) that provides 13 hp and 150 Nm of boost during hard acceleration. Paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), power is sent to all four wheels via the carmaker’s 4MATIC AWD system, contributing to a combined system output of 306 hp and 400 Nm.

Aside from teasing its upcoming cars, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is inviting the public to take part in the Mercedes-Benz World event. Participants will also be given opportunities to win exclusive merchandise by taking part in an activity listed in the brand’s social media post.
