2024 GWM Tank 300 launching mid-July, est. RM250k, arrived at Port Klang

Set to make its launch in Malaysia in the middle of July, the first batch of the GWM Tank 300 has arrived in Port Klang, as shared by GWM Malaysia. The delivery of the Bronco/G-Class-inspired SUV is also set to happen in the same month.

First previewed in Malaysia in March 2024, the GWM Tank 300 is an off-roading SUV from China that seems to have taken inspiration from the likes of the Ford Bronco and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Upon its preview in Malaysia, it was the first of its kind, offering an entirely new option for the Malaysian market.

Not long after its preview to members of the media, the GWM Tank also made a public appearance at Malaysia Autoshow 2024, where it was also announced to be open for bookings. During the Autoshow, it was announced that the GWM Tank 300 has an estimated price of RM250,000, and also possibly available in a single variant only.

Although its styling may remind you of a Suzuki Jimny, the Tank 300 is a much larger off-roader, hence offering an entirely new option in the market. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that outputs 220 hp and 380 Nm at maximum. Paired with the engine is an 8-speed automatic transmission, and as all off-roaders should, it is underpinned by a four-wheel drive (4WD) system.

Inside, the GWM Tank 300 mimics a Mercedes-Benz G-Class with the design of its air vents and its overall dashboard layout. Like many new Chinese cars, it features a dual-screen setup for the head unit and the digital instrument cluster.

GWM Malaysia Managing Director, Mike Cui An Qi said, “We have great confidence in our products’ quality, and we want our owners to feel equally confident, and assured about our commitment to them. Thus, we are offering an unlimited mileage lifetime warranty for the Engine & Transmission to our first 300 owners. As always, delivering exceptional service and rewards has been one of GWM’s core practices to maximise customer satisfaction and trust in our brand.”
