Jaguar to axe entire ICE line-up by June, new fully electric model line-up due 2025

Jaguar was one of the first brands (by Western standards, at least) to embrace electrification, having unveiled the production fully-electric I-Pace all the way back in 2017. Now, it is set to once again become one of the first “traditional” carmaker to jump all-in to electric, with plans to axe its entire line-up of internal combustion engine models by June this year.

Speaking to Road & Track, Jaguar Land Rover North America president and CEO, Joe Eberhardt, said that the company will be stopping production for “the majority” of their products to make space for a new fully electric line-up.

“The majority of our products cease production in June, but they will be on sale for a much longer time. We will have a production schedule that enables us to have a continuous supply of vehicles until the new cars come … We’re trying to time it so we have enough volume to take us through to the launch of the new product and have a clean handover.

“The plan is to sunset the current product portfolio and then launch the new ones,” he told the publication.

Eberhardt’s latest comments line up with what JLR CEO Adrian Mardell told Autocar back in August last year. Along with the ICE models, the current Jaguar I-Pace – which only just made its debut in Malaysia last year – will also be axed, as the British firm readies itself for a completely revamped electric model line-up due in 2025.

The new range of vehicles will all be built on the marque’s upcoming bespoke JEA electric vehicle architecture, that is set to be revealed this year. No details have been given on the “new-era” models just yet, but according to recent rumours, the first model out of Jaguar’s refreshed line-up will be a four-door grand-tourer like the Porsche Taycan, and will look “just gorgeous” if you ask Mardell.

But if you’re still thinking about that F-Type, well, tick-tock.
