Honda CR-V: Close to 6,500 bookings received, 14% of sales from hybrid



During a media event today, Honda Malaysia revealed that close to 6,500 bookings have been received for the Honda CR-V as of February 22, 2024. As for registrations, 1,500 units of the Honda CR-V have been registered in Malaysia with the V variant being the most popular choice among Malaysian customers.

Of the 1,500 units of the Honda CR-V registered in Malaysia, 45% were for the V variant, 30% were for the E variant, 14% were for the e:HEV RS variant, and 11% were for the entry-level S variant. According to Honda Malaysia, it has managed to achieve its 5-month sales target in just 2 months since the launch of the car in December 2023.

As for colour preference, the most popular colour choice for the 2024 Honda CR-V in Malaysia is the Canyon River Blue Metallic colour which has been the choice of 36% of CR-V customers. This is followed by Platinum White at 24%, Meteoroid Gray at 23%, Lunar Silver at 9%, and surprisingly Ignite Red at the end of the rankings with only 8%.

Launched on December 14, 2023, the Honda CR-V was launched in 3 variants first with the e:HEV variant only having its price confirmed on January 11, 2024. Prices for the Honda CR-V in Malaysia start at RM159,900 for the base S variant and top off at RM195,900 for the e:HEV RS variant. The most popular variant on sale, the V variant, fetches a price of RM181,900.

There are 3 powertrain options for the Honda CR-V in Malaysia with the first three variants housing a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and a CVT. This non-hybrid version outputs 193 hp and 243 Nm. While the S, E, and V variants share this same engine, the V variant makes a distinction by sending power to all four wheels instead of the front wheels only.

The hybrid version of the Honda CR-V, the CR-V e:HEV RS is powered by a 2.0-litre hybrid system which is paired with an e-CVT. This hybrid system outputs 184 hp and 335 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels only.

Despite the increased price of the CR-V and the emergence of its new competitors, it is seeing great success in the Malaysian market.
