Mercedes-Benz CLE now open for ROI in Malaysia, successor to C-Class and E-Class Coupe

A new page for the Mercede-Benz CLE has appeared on Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s website and it indicates that Registration of Interest (ROI) is now open for this new coupe from the brand. Replacing both the C-Class Coupe and the E-Class Coupe, we may soon witness the launch of the Mercedes-Benz CLE in Malaysia.

Unveiled to the world back in July 2023, the Mercedes-Benz CLE is closer in dimensions to the E-Class Coupe than the C-Class Coupe. It does, however, sport B-pillars which are uncharacteristic of the brand’s popular coupe.

Not much information on the Mercedes-Benz CLE coupe has been shared on Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s official website. Globally, the CLE is available in several guises with several powertrain options. This includes the CLE 220 d, CLE 200, CLE 200 4MATIC, CLE 300 4MATIC, and CLE 450 4MATIC. All powertrain options are 48V mild hybrid systems with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). There are no plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options yet, but Mercedes-Benz says it is a work in progress.

In its most powerful version, the CLE 450 4MATIC sources power from a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-6 engine (M 256 M) that outputs 381 hp and 500 Nm. The ISG provides an additional boost of 23 hp and 200 Nm. Paired with the engine is the brand’s 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. We have yet to confirm the version of the Mercedes-Benz CLE for Malaysia.

There is also an AMG version of the CLE, called the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe. Unveiled to the world back in December 2023, the AMG CLE Coupe is powered by a 48V mild hybrid system which includes a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-6 M256M engine. This setup results in a total of 449 hp and 560 Nm.

What do you think of the Mercedes-Benz CLE, now that it is set for Malaysia? Is it a worthy successor to both the C-Class Coupe and E-Class Coupe?
