Peugeot Malaysia teases E-2008 again – electric crossover to launch soon as CKD model?

Peugeot Malaysia, now under the guardianship of parent company Stellantis themselves through a new national sales company, has once again teased the fully electric E-2008 on its social media channels.

While this isn’t the first time the EV crossover made its way onto those pages, nor is it the first time it made an actual appearance in Malaysia for the matter, it’s the first time we’re seeing it teased in the facelifted form, which only made its global debut in May last year.

The company has previously announced its plans to make its Gurun manufacturing plant the regional manufacturing hub for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) for both domestic and export markets in the region, and has indicated the E-2008 as one of the models potentially to be assembled here in Malaysia.

Indeed, the teaser post today once again highlights the company’s “Built in ASEAN for ASEAN” ambitions, noting that Malaysia “is poised to be the regional hub for mobility solutions emphasising on electrification such as EV battery production”. Could this be hinting at an imminent launch of the facelifted 2024 Peugeot E-2008 as a CKD model?

As part of the facelift package, the new 2024 Peugeot E-2008 has received a redesigned front fascia, alongside new LED headlights and tail lights, plus new 16-18-inch wheel designs.

The more significant updates are found underneath the sheet metal. The single motor on the front axle now outputs 156 hp, or 15% more than its outgoing model, and the battery has now also grown by 4 kWh to now 54 kWh, Raising the WLTP range up to 406 km, or 61 km more than the outgoing E-2008.

For charging, the fully-electric compact crossover will support up to 11 kW of AC power, depending on specifications, and up to 100 kW with DC fast charging. For the latter, 20-80% will take approximately 30 minutes.
