MINI Malaysia saw 41.9% growth in 2023 – 1,750 cars sold, fastest growth in the world

In the BMW Group Malaysia’s 2024 business briefing today, it was revealed that MINI Malaysia sold a total of 1,750 cars in 2023. That number marks a 41.9% growth from the previous year, an all-time high for MINI Malaysia and the fastest annual growth for MINI worldwide.

MINI’s fast growth in Malaysia is attributed to the high demand for the MINI Countryman. The compact SUV saw 1,086 deliveries fulfilled in 2023, accounting for over 62% of deliveries for the MINI portfolio.

MINI Malaysia’s fully-electric offering, the MINI Electric also continued to grow in popularity in 2023, encompassing over 26% of MINI vehicles delivered. The MINI electric was updated in early 2023 together with the introduction of the new BMW 3 Series. The update equipped the MINI electric with a panoramic sunroof, heated seats, and a new colour option. The MINI Electric retails at RM193,834.

MINI Head of region for Asia, Eastern Europe, Middle-East, and Africa, Pierre Jalady said, “There truly has been no better way to close over two decades of the BMW Group in Malaysia than seeing the exemplary performance of our vehicles in the local premium automotive market.”

“We have seen the remarkable growth of our electrifying BMW i fleet, especially through the introduction of the BMW iX1, the BMW iX, the BMW i7, the MINI Electric, and the first-ever electrified addition in the Urban Mobility space, the BMW CE04.”

“The acceptance of these vehicles allowed us to achieve the title of the Number One Premium Electric Vehicles provider in Malaysia, an achievement that we do not take lightly as it underscores our goal to shape, lead, and future-proof the Malaysian automotive landscape in the years to come with the newest technological offerings from the BMW Group.”
