The HWA Evo is a Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II restomod with a 3.0L V6 biturbo AMG engine, 6-speed manual

HWA AG, a German aftermarket performance and motorsport specialist, has announced that it is developing the HWA Evo, a road-legal restomod that is based on the legendary Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II. The company is also preparing to partner with Curated, a US company known for restoring and preserving iconic vintage cars, for the project.

Done in conjunction with HWA AG’s 25th anniversary, only 100 units of the HWA Evo will be made. With delivery expected to begin at the end of 2025, the HWA Evo will carry an estimated price tag of EUR 714,000 (approx. RM3.64 million).

Using a 190E shell as a donor vehicle, the HWA Evo’s design will be based on the original Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II, but with some modern reinterpretations. The car will be developed and produced using state-of-the-art technology in terms of powertrain, performance, chassis, brakes, aerodynamics and safety.

Designed to have a perfect 50/50 weight distribution, the HWA Evo will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engine, mated to a manually actuated 6-speed GBX gearbox. The exact technical specifications of the HWA Evo are still being finalised for the moment, but it is said to make 450 hp and 550 Nm.

Inside, HWA AG says its Evo project will feature an interior inspired by the original 90’s look of the 190E 2.5-16 Evo II, together with Recaro seats. It will also feature modern-day technology and digital components, such as Bluetooth.

AMG Co-founder, HWA founder and Chairman of the Board, Hans Werner Aufrecht said, “The Evo II was a design icon of the early 1990s and set benchmarks in terms of style. Our idea was to reinterpret this design. With Curated, we wanted a partner at our side for this project who knows the market for such cars inside out and believes in the HWA Evo. I think we are creating the best conditions for the HWA Evo to be successful.”

Curated Co-founder, John Temerian said, “We couldn’t be more excited for this project. With a shared appreciation for the essence of originality – and the authentic understanding of tenacity, technical mastery and mechanical excellence – HWA & Curated are joining forces in the pursuit of new automotive perfection. This venture merges state-of-the-art technology, 90s nostalgia and the thrill of the drive.”
