CKD 2023 Porsche Cayenne facelift launched in Malaysia – RM600k, one variant only



First debuted at Auto Shanghai 2023, the 2023 Porsche Cayenne facelift is now finally here in Malaysia, with a starting price of RM599,999, on-the-road, without insurance. Like the pre-facelift model, the new facelifted Cayenne is locally assembled here at Kulim, Kedah, and is available in a single base variant that is “made exclusively for the Malaysian market”.

On the outside, the 2023 Porsche Cayenne facelift now sports a wider and taller front grille, sleeker headlights, along with new three-dimensional tail lights. At the back, the Cayenne facelift’s number plate recess has been moved to the bottom, giving the SUV a new rear apron design.

Standard exterior equipment that is fitted with the 2023 Porsche Cayenne facelift is as follows:

  • HD Matrix LED headlights
  • LED tail lights
  • 20-inch ‘Cayenne Design’ wheels
  • Colour options: Carrara White Metallic, Chromite Black Metallic, Quarzite Grey Metallic

Customers may also opt for the following optional items:

  • 21-inch ‘Cayenne Exclusive Design’ wheels (additional RM45,000)
  • 22-inch ‘Sport Design’ (additional RM49,000)

Powering the 2023 Porsche Cayenne in Malaysia continues to be the 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine, but now makes more power at 353 hp and 500 Nm. The mill is mated to a Tiptronic S 8-speed automatic transmission that sends all power to its four wheels, enabling the luxury SUV to sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.

Underpinning the 2023 Porsche Cayenne is a two-chamber twin-valve air suspension setup. It features reworked adjustable dampers which are controlled by the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system.

The Malaysian-spec Porsche Cayenne also sports wider differentiation between driving modes, which is said to improve handling capabilities for both on-road and off-road driving. Speaking of driving modes, the Sport Chrono package is included with the 2023 Porsche Cayenne as standard, which comes with additional Sport Plus and Individual driving modes, a driving-mode switch dial on the steering wheel, a stopwatch on top of the dashboard, as well as the Launch Control function. The Sport Response function is also included and is able to provide you with 20 seconds of max output at a time.

The Malaysian-spec 2023 Porsche Cayenne’s powertrain and further technical details are as follows:

  • Engine: 3.0-litre turbocharged V6
  • Max. power: 353 hp
  • Max. torque: 500 Nm
  • 0-100 km/h: 5.7 seconds (with Sport Chrono package)
  • Top speed: 248 km/h
  • Transmission: Tiptronic S 8-speed automatic

Inside, the 2023 Porsche Cayenne in Malaysia features a reworked dashboard, dubbed the “new Porsche Driver Experience, which was first seen on the Porsche Taycan. It features two large screens, which include the 12.6-inch instrument cluster and the 12.3-inch central infotainment display. 

Just in case the two displays aren’t enough, customers can also opt for the 10.9-inch touchscreen passenger display as an option. Its gear level has also been relocated, now positioned on the dashboard in the form of a paddle switch. This frees up the centre console, giving space for a larger air conditioning control panel, and a haptic touch volume controller, along with more storage space.

Porsche is also offering the optional Tequipment Rear Seat Entertainment package at RM13,500. This package adds two additional screens for the rear passengers.

Porsche has also given the Malaysian-spec Cayenne facelift certain standard features that are only available as options in other markets. This includes the Power Steering Plus system (speed-sensitive variable power steering), soft-close doors, 14-way electric comfort seats with headrests featuring the Porsche crest embossing, electric roll-up sun blinds for the rear window, a Bose Surround Sound System, and a 15W wireless mobile phone charging pad.

In the safety department, the 2023 Porsche Cayenne in Malaysia is equipped with the adaptive cruise control (ACC) system, lane keeping assist (LKA), along with front and rear park assist sensors. A 360-degree surround-view monitor is also included.
