Smart #3 full specs revealed with 25th Anniversary Edition – Up to 422hp, 455km range, 150kW DC charging

Smart #3 Brabus

Debuted back in April at Auto Shanghai 2023, Smart’s fastback SUV – the Smart #3 has just made its European market premiere at this year’s IAA Mobility, with its full specifications revealed. Alongside it, Smart has also premiered the 25th Anniversary Edition of Smart #3 to celebrate the brand’s 25th birthday.

In total, the Smart #3 is offered in four variants. This includes the Pro+, Premium, the performance-oriented Brabus, and the limited 25th Anniversary Edition.

Smart #3 25th Anniversary Edition

Set to compete in the premium EV segment, the Smart #3 features the brand’s “shark nose” design up front, along with an A-shaped grille and LED headlights. Round the back, the all-electric fastback SUV is also fitted with a spoiler.

Standard features found on the entry-level Pro+ variant include 19-inch wheels, LED headlights with automatic high beam assist, as well as a panoramic halo roof. Wheel designs on both the Premium and 25th Anniversary Editions are slightly different, while the 25th Anniversary Edition comes with exclusive badges too.

Smart #3 Premium

The top-of-the-line Smart #3 Brabus gets larger 20-inch Synchro wheels along with red brake calipers. It also gets an overall sportier exterior styling, and Brabus badges to go along with its sportier identity. Smart is also proud of its fastback SUV’s 0.27 Cd drag coefficient.

Performance-wise, the Smart #3 Brabus features an all-wheel drive (AWD) setup with 422 hp and 543 Nm sent to its four wheels. Its 0 to 100 km/h sprint can be done at 3.7 seconds, and the Brabus variant also gets engine sound design for a sportier experience.

Smart #3 Pro+

As for the Pro+, Premium, and 25th Anniversary Edition variants, they feature a rear-wheel drive (RWD) set-up with a total of 268 hp and 343 Nm. As for the century sprint, it can be done in 5.8 seconds.

When the Smart #3 runs out of juice, it can be charged up at a maximum rate of 150 kW DC, which will see the fastback SUV charging up from 10 to 80% in under 30 minutes. The same can also be done in under three hours using a 22 kW AC charger.

Thanks to a 66 kWh Lithium nickel cobalt manganese battery (NCM) battery, the Smart #3 Pro+ can carry you as far as 435 km (WLTP). Both the Premium and 25th Anniversary Edition variants can go as far as 455 km (WLTP) on a single charge despite featuring the same battery size as the Pro+. This is due to the use of silicon carbide technology for its inverter. The Brabus variant on the other hand has a shorter range of 415 km (WLTP) due to its extra power.

Inside, standard features included with the Smart #3 include a 12.8-inch central display, a 9.2-inch HD instrument cluster, electrically powered seats with heating functions, a panoramic halo roof, and a wireless charger. The higher-end models all get extra kits such as a 10.25-inch head-up display, a 13-speaker Beats sound system, along with an ambient lighting system.

Exclusive bits available just for the 25th Anniversary Edition consist of white and red design highlights, along with black and white leather seats. The performance-oriented Brabus variant on the other hand gets ventilated microfiber suede seats.

Safety-wise, the Smart #3 is equipped with the Smart Pilot Assist ADAS suite, which includes standard features such as Adaptive cruise control (ACC) with Stop & Go function, lane keeping assist (LKA), blind spot detection (BSM), traffic sign recognition (TSR), lane change assist (LCA), traffic jam assist (TJA), highway assist, and a 360-degree camera system. The Premium variant and above also get automatic parking assist (APA) and adaptive high beam (AHB).

The Smart #3 will be made available to customers in Germany at the end of this year, with a starting price of EUR43,490 (approx. RM217,959). As for the rest of the European market, the fastback SUV will be making its launch in early 2024.

Also, Proton mentioned on its Facebook page earlier this year that the Smart #3 “may be added to the model lineup in Malaysia”. Will this fastback SUV indeed come after the brand’s Smart #1? We will have to wait and see.
