Video: 2023 Mitsubishi Xforce compact SUV global debut – First Look

Mitsubishi’s brand-new compact SUV – the Mitsubishi Xforce has just made its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023. Designed based on the Silky & Solid design concept, the Xforce wears an evolved version of the brand’s Dynamic Shield front face.

The car is also fitted with T-shaped lighting both at the front and back, which kind of reminds us of Volvo’s Thor hammer headlights, and at the same time gives the Xforce a futuristic look. Size-wise, the Mitsubishi Xforce is about the same size as the Honda HR-V.

Powering the Mitsusbishi Xforce is a 1.5-litre engine that produces 105 hp and 141 Nm. Paired with a CVT gearbox, power is sent to the front wheels only.

A total of four different drive modes are offered in the Xforce. This includes normal, gravel, mud, as well as the new Wet mode, which is a first for Mitsubishi.

There is also an Active Yaw System to improve the car’s handling by adjusting the drive force between the front left and right wheels. The Xforce’s suspension is also said to be tuned to suit ASEAN roads for better ride comfort.

Inside, the Xforce is also the first Mitsubishi model to feature melange fabric on its instrument panel and door trims. The front seats have been designed to offer more space in the shoulder section, while the rear seats offer eight different reclining adjustments with a 40:20:20 split-folding configuration.

The Mitsubishi Xforce also comes with an 8-inch digital instrument display, 12.3-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA), a drinks cooler in the floor section, and ample storage space capable of holding up to 15 drink bottles in total. Also a first in a Mitsubishi vehicle is the 8-speaker Dynamic Sound Yahama Premium sound system which has been developed together with Yamaha Corporation.

Safety-wise, the Mitsubishi Xforce is equipped with six airbags driver, alongside advanced driver assistance systems. This includes features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam, lead car departure notification, blind spot warning, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward collision mitigation (autonomous emergency braking).

The Mitsubishi Xforce will be making its official launch in Indonesia soon, followed by other ASEAN countries. It will also be sold in markets such as Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa in the near future.
