BMW 5 Series and i5 “First edition” unveiled for Japan – 300 units only



Not long after the unveiling of the all-new BMW 5 Series, there is already a “Special Edition” for the car, albeit only in Japan. In the land of the rising sun, the BMW 5 Series “First Edition” and the i5 “First Edition” can now be ordered. The 5 Series “First Edition” is based on the BMW 523i M Sport while the BMW i5 “First Edition” is based on the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport.

Upon its unveiling, the all-new BMW 5 series was made available in several guises including the 520i, 520d, 520d xDrive, i5 eDrive40, and i5 M60 xDrive. There are 200 units of the 523i “First Edition” and 100 units of the i5 eDrive40 “First Edition” available for Japan. In total, there are 300 units of the “First Edition” BMW 5 Series in Japan.

BMW customers in Japan who would like to order the “First Edition” can do so online through the BMW online store. Delivery is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2023. Differentiating the “First Edition” BMW 5 series (both the 523i and i5 eDrive40) from the ‘regular’ all-new BMW 5 Series are several features.

Standard features on the i5 eDrive40 “First Edition” include:
