2023 Range Rover updated with all-hybrid powertrains – SV gets 615 hp V8 MHEV!

The fifth-generation Range Rover has just been updated for 2023, with a new fully-electrified powertrain line-up. A total of four powertrains are now on offer, consisting of two plug-in hybrids and two mild-hybrid 4.4-litre V8s – the latter available in a new 615 hp/750 Nm P615 configuration, specifically for the new SV variant. Oddly enough, though, no performance figures for the new range-topper were provided.

The two 3.0-litre inline-six plug-in hybrid powertrains, meanwhile, benefit from a more powerful 160 kW (218 hp) electric motor for a higher total system output. As such, the previous P440e is now known as P460e, while the P510e is now P550e, both to reflect their new horsepower figures.

With such a significant increase in outputs, the latter also now dispatches the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.8 seconds, down from 5.2 seconds from before. Complementing the newfound performance is also an increased fully-electric range of up to 120 km, Autocar UK reports.

As part of the 2023 refresh, the 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display on the inside has also been updated with the latest-generation Pivi Pro software. With the latest update, JLR says that nearly 80% of tasks can now be performed within two taps of the home screen.

There’s also a new Country Road Assist system as part of the adaptive cruise control, which uses navigation data to automatically adjust the vehicle’s target speed by taking into account the bends in the road and changes to the speed limit. Additionally, there’s also now an adaptive off-road cruise control system, with up to four comfort setting that adjusts the vehicle’s speed accordingly.
