2023 BMW iX1 xDrive30 launched in Malaysia, RM286k – 440km range

BMW Malaysia has just launched the BMW iX1 xDrive30 at Malaysia Autoshow 2023, fetching a price of RM285,800. Available as a single variant only, the BMW iX1 xDrive30 is a new electric vehicle (EV) in the premium compact segment.

Based on the all-new 3rd-generation BMW X1, the iX1 measures 4,500 mm long, 1,845 mm wide, and 1,616 mm tall. Its wheelbase measures 2,692 mm long. It is essentially 26 mm lower than its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart (the X1 xDrive23i). The lower height is attributed to its lower ground clearance of 170 mm as opposed to the X1’s 205-mm ground clearance. Powering the car is a dual-motor setup that makes a combined output of 313 hp and 494 Nm. Both the motors on the front and rear axles are identical permanent magnet synchronous motors which BMW refers to as Electrically Excited Synchronous Motors (EESM).

Naturally, the dual-motor setup provides an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. This accelerates the iX1 xDrive30 from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, onward to a top speed of 180 km/h.

As for battery and range, the iX1 xDrive30 is equipped with a 64.7-kWh battery pack and this provides a total electric range of 440 km (WLTP). Charging can be done at a maximum rate of 11 kW with AC charging and 130 kW with DC charging. 11-kW AC charging brings the state of charge (SOC) from 0 to 100% in 6.5 hours. 130-kW DC charging brings the SOC from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes.

Following the i4 and the iX, the iX1 also features the modern BMW Curved Display on the inside. It is a combination of a 10.25-inch and a 10.7-inch display with the former dedicated as a digital instrument cluster and the latter dedicated as a central head unit. The iX1 runs the latest BMW operating system 8 and is fitted with BMW Live Cokpit Professional as standard.
