Almost a year since its world debut, the all-new 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC (X254) has finally been launched in Malaysia. Available in a single variant only, the fully imported (CBU) Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC fetches a price of RM429,888.

Despite its subtle design changes, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC is an all-new model, now up to date with the W206 C-Class. At the front end, you now get Mercedes-Benz’s Digital Light headlights. All-around, the GLC 300 4MATIC for Malaysia is equipped with an AMG Line Exterior which includes AMG Line bumpers and 20-inch AMG design wheels. Being somewhat of an adventurous car, the GLC 300 is also equipped with running boards and roof rails.

Powering the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC is a mild-hybrid system. It consists of a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and an Integrated Starter Alternator (ISG). The engine itself makes 258 hp and 400 Nm, while the ISG provides a boost of 23 hp and 200 Nm. Power is sent to all wheels (45:55 split) through a 9G-tronic automatic transmission. The GLC 300 4MATIC does the century sprint in 6.2 seconds, onward to a top speed of 240 km/h.

Inside, the GLC has been given a comprehensive update. Like the current-generation C-Class, the GLC now features an 11.9-inch head unit and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The head unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and has its own navigation system with augmented reality. Sound is transmitted via a Burmester 3D Surround Sound System.

The GLC also features the latest-generation Mercedes-Benz steering wheel in the AMG Line trim that comes with capacitive control buttons and paddle shifters. As for the seats, they are upholstered in Artico man-made leather. Being a CBU, the GLC 300 4MATIC does lack certain features to keep the price down. For example, there are no USB sockets for the second-row passengers, and the car doesn’t come with a sunroof.

Safety-wise, the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC comes with blind spot assist, active lane keeping assist, active brake assist, and the brand’s PRE-SAFE system. It also comes with the Parking Package with 360° cameras and Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC. It is only equipped with a passive cruise control system.
