All-new 2023 Lexus RX to launch in Malaysia this year – rumoured pricing from RM470k

The all-new Lexus RX is set to make its debut in Malaysia in 2023, and could be launched as soon as May this year, if a message from a Lexus dealer is anything to go by.

According to the dealer, the all-new Lexus RX will be offered in two variants: the entry-level RX350 Luxury, priced at an estimated RM470k to RM480k, as well as the RX500h F Sport, at approximately RM510k to RM520k.

Of course, these pricing and variant information are not anywhere near official, so take it with a giant pinch of salt. If accurate, though, our variant line-up will actually be quite unique within the region – Thailand only gets the RX450h, while Singapore has the hybridised RX350h and RX500h. Indonesia, on the other hand, gets both the regular RX350 and the RX350h, as well as the RX450h.

While the launch is said to be somewhere in May this year, the dealer did also mention that official pricing for the Lexus RX will be announced in early April 2023 when order taking commences. So if the rumours are true, we won’t have too much longer to wait.

The all-new Lexus RX was unveiled globally in June last year, with a striking design that almost looks like it came out from an Alien movie. Much of it is due to the new ‘Spindle Body’ grille, but the entire design for the Lexus RX has also been significantly modernised, including its new shiny interior.

The base RX350 is powered by a 2.4-litre turbocharged inline-four engine, offering up to 275 hp and 430 Nm to the front wheels. In this configuration, the engine is paired to an eight-speed Direct Shift automatic gearbox to send drive to the front wheels.

Moving up to the RX500h will see the same mill paired to an additional electric motor that boosts outputs up to 371 hp and 460 Nm. The electrified powertrain is matched to a Hybrid Transaxle CVT gearbox, with drive sent to all four-wheels via a Direct4 all-wheel drive set-up.
