BMW Malaysia has revealed the official price of the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) BMW XM, starting at RM1,316,450 (without extended warranty & service package). Available in two variants, the XM costs RM1,398,800 with the extended warranty & service package included.
The two variants are virtually identical, namely the XM Shadowline and the XM Night Gold Line. On the outside, both variants get the M aerodynamics package and the BMW kidney ‘Iconic Glow’ grille. They even sit on the same set of 23-inch style 923 M wheels, albeit in different colour schemes that can also be seen on the trims around the car’s body. Both variants cost the same at RM 1.3 million.
Powering the XM is a PHEV powertrain that consists of a 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbo engine and a 145-kW electric motor. Combined, the PHEV powerplant makes 653 hp (metric) and 800 Nm. Paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission, the powertrain launches the XM from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds and provides a top speed of 270 km/h.
Just in case you were wondering, the V8 engine itself makes 489 hp (metric) and 650 Nm, while the electric motor makes 197 hp (metric) and 280 Nm. Supplying power to the electric motor is a high-voltage 29.5-kWh lithium-ion battery. The battery can be charged at a rate of 7.4 kW and takes 4 hours and 15 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%. The BMW XM can be driven in a fully electric mode at speeds of up to 140 km/h. In ideal conditions, the pure electric range can go up to 88 km.

If the XM’s performance numbers aren’t exciting enough for you, BMW previewed the BMW XM Label Red back in October 2022. Although still in development, BMW has stated that the XM Label Red is capable of producing 750 hp and 1,000 Nm. For now, only the ‘regular’ XM is available.

As for the interior, the BMW XM is equipped with BMW Individual leather ‘Merino’ with exclusive contents, M interior ‘Carbon Fibre’ finishers, an M Leather Steering wheel, M multifunctional seats, M seat belts, and BMW Individual instruments finished in leather.
The BMW Live Cockpit Professional features a 12.3-inch instrument display and a 14.9-inch touch-sensitive display. Other luxuries include BMW Gesture Control, a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and a wireless charging tray.
