BMW XM bookings open for Malaysia starting 20 Oct, RM1.4 million estimated price

BMW Malaysia will be accepting bookings for the upcoming BMW XM starting October 20, 2022. The XM is the brand’s first electrified M car with a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) body style. The estimated price of the BMW XM is RM 1,400,000 for Peninsular Malaysia and RM 820,000 for Langkawi.

Being the first electrified BMW M car, the powertrain of the XM consists of a 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine (489 hp/650 Nm) and an electric motor (197 hp/280 Nm). Working with the electric motor, the total system output is 653 hp and 800 Nm. The hybrid powertrain is paired with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. With power sent to all wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system, the XM does the century sprint in 4.3 seconds.

A 29.5-kWh battery pack supplies power to the electric motor. It can be charged at a rate of 7.4 kW and takes 4 hours and 15 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%. BMW says that the XM can be driven in fully electric mode for up to 88 km and can reach speeds of up to 140 km/h on electric drive only.

As for handling, the BMW XM is underpinned by a sophisticated chassis system with a double-wishbone front axle, a five-link rear axle, and integral active steering.

Unveiled globally in September, the production version of the BMW XM doesn’t veer too far from the XM Concept car. Yes, we’ve all made fun of the ever-growing kidney grille, but BMW seems to be unbothered about the whole thing. They say that the XM is a statement of exclusivity, presence, and performance. It also gives off a “singularly extrovert aura” thanks to a host of distinctive accents.

Wheel options for the BMW XM include 21-inch wheels and 23-inch wheels with various designs, but the Malaysian version will be offered with the 23-inch wheels only. The BMW XM measures 5,100 mm in length, 2,005 mm in width, and 1,755 mm in height. It also has a 3,105 mm long wheelbase.

There are also shift lights for the BMW Curved Display and BMW Head-Up Display. A 14.9-inch control display and a 12.3-inch information display work in tandem to ensure uncluttered functionality.

In the BMW XM, the Driving Assistant Professional system includes features such as Distance Control (ACC), automatic Speed Limit Assist, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Lane Change Assistant, Lane Keeping Assistant, Lane Change Warning, Front/Rear Crossing-traffic Warning, Rear Collision Prevention and Exit Warning when opening the doors, Emergency Stop Assistant, Evasion Assistant, Emergency Corridor Assistant and Priority Warning.
