Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia announced that it sold 24,017 vehicles locally in 2022. From the previous year, the company showed a 37.3% increase in total sales with its 2-vehicle lineup.

The company credits its 2022 sales achievement to the Mitsubishi Xpander. 14,136 units of the 7-seater crossover last year, contributing to 59.6% of the company’s total sales. Compared to its performance in 2021, the Xpander showed a 93.5% jump in total sales figure. According to the company, the Xpander continues to hold its reign as the best-selling Japanese 7-seater crossover in Malaysia.

The remaining 40.4% of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia’s sales were contributed by the Mitsubishi Triton with 9,697 units sold from January to December. Not as astronomical as the Xpander’s growth, the Triton showed a 4.6% increase from the previous year. In the pick-up segment in Malaysia, the Triton retained its ranking as the second best-selling pickup truck. Having been in the Malaysian market since 2005, the Triton reached its 100,000th unit sales milestone in 2022.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Shinya Ikeda said, “Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia is delighted to achieve a record-high sales performance in 2022, and we thank each and every Mitsubishi customer across the nation for their unwavering support. One of our significant achievements of the year was that we celebrated the Triton pick-up truck reaching a 100,000-unit sales milestone in Malaysia since MMM’s inception in 2005.”
