Gallery: Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ sedan – RM420k, 669km range

The fifth electric vehicle (EV) by Mercedes-Benz to join the ‘EQ’ lineup in Malaysia is the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+. Available as a single variant only, the EQE 350+ fetches a price of RM419,888.

Looking largely similar to the Mercedes-Benz EQS (and built on the same EVA platform), the EQE is smaller and has a sedan-like trunk as opposed to the EQS’s ‘sport back’ rear end. There is also no light bar that runs across the front end, making it easier to differentiate from the EQS at night.

Illuminating the road ahead is a set of Digital Light matrix LED headlights that flank a rather underwhelming black panel with the brand’s emblem. At the rear is a set of three-dimensional helical taillights.

Like the EQS, the EQE also features electric retractable door handles, that, together with the ‘one-bow silhouette’, contribute to a drag coefficient of 0.22. Sprucing up the looks of the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ is an AMG Line body kit and a set of 19-inch AMG-style alloy wheels.

Powering the EQE 350+ is a single electric motor that turns the rear wheels only. Producing 215 kW (292 hp) and 565 Nm, the motor accelerates the EQE 350+ from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, which is conservative by EV standards. The top speed of the EQE 350+ is electronically limited at 210 km/h.

Responsible for storing power in the EQE is a 90.6-kWh battery pack that provides 669 km of range (WLTP). Charging can be done at a maximum rate of 11 kW with AC charging and 170 kW with DC fast charging. With 11-kW AC charging, the 90.6-kWh battery takes 8 hours to fully charge. With 170-kW DC fast charging, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.

Inside, the EQE 350+ doesn’t have the hyperscreen. However, it is available in higher-tier variants of the Mercedes-Benz EQE which are not sold in Malaysia. Replacing the supposed screen in front of the front-passenger seat is a panel which is decorated with the Mercedes-Benz stars. With the ‘regular’ screen layout, the dashboard of the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ looks similar to that of the W206 Mercedes-Benz C300 AMG Line.

In theme with the AMG bodykit and styling of the exterior, the cabin of the EQE 350+ gets an AMG Line steering wheel, aluminium foot pedals, AMG floor mats, and sports seats. The interior is upholstered in a combination of Artico man-made leather and Microcut microfibre. Other interior highlights include a Burmester sound system with two ‘soundscapes’. There are three artificial driving sounds, namely Silver Waves, Vivid Flux and Roaring Pulse.

Safety features of the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ include the Driving Assistance Plus package as standard, which consists of adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go assist, active lane-keeping assist, and autonomous emergency braking, among others.

Included in the RM419,888 price tag of the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ is a standard four-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, alongside an additional 10-year/250,000 km battery warranty.
