New 2023 Subaru XV teased ahead of September 15 debut

Subaru has just released a 15-second teaser video for an “unnamed” new SUV, but we can already tell that it is the new 2023 Subaru XV. Set to debut on September 15, 2022, we only get a glimpse of the car’s redesigned exterior.

Through images on the Subaru Japan site, we can see that the horizontal bar on the grille now extends wider and connects to the newly designed headlights. A similar C-shape design is used for the headlight cluster, albeit separated into two pieces. Still hexagonal, the grille appears to have been given a more aggressive look.

From the rear, the resemblance to the current XV is still strong, sporting a similar taillight design, but with a sportier-looking rear bumper. A set of newly-designed five-spoke wheels can also be seen in the teaser video.

Subaru has not revealed details on the powertrain of the next generation XV. Currently in Malaysia, the Subaru XV is offered in the 2.0i-S EyeSight variant and the GT Edition variant, both powered by a 2.0-litre boxer engine producing 156 hp and 196 Nm paired to a CVT. Both variants get Subaru’s famous Symmetrical All Wheel Drive System.

No interior shots are shown in the teaser video, but the next generation XV is expected to carry over elements from the 2022 WRX. The new XV should also feature Subaru’s latest version of the EyeSight Driver Assist system with driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Subaru will unveil the 2023 Subaru XV on 15 September on its YouTube channels.
