The Honda City Hatchback isn’t exactly a new car – not even here in Malaysia. But Honda Malaysia invited us over to Langkawi for a media drive, and there’s no way in hell we’ll say no to that. So with all that being said, what can a familiar city car (pun unintended) bring to the table on the foreign kampung-style roads of Langkawi?
As it turns out, quite a lot, actually. Not only were we blessed with torrential rain on the entire first day of the trip (after a whole week of dry weather on the island), our GoPro also inexplicably decided to fail on us, during the only time we were able to film.
Still, through the magic of video editing, we were able to piece together something to share our experience with you. So without giving too much more away, check out the video above to experience post-Covid Langkawi with us!

Our trusty companion during the two-day one-night trip was a unit of the Honda City Hatchback RS, powered by the e:HEV 1.5-litre hybrid powertrain with 109 hp and 253 Nm on offer. Uniquely on Honda’s hybrid system, the wheels are driven primarily by the electric motor, with the engine’s lock-up clutch only engaging during high-speed cruising for added efficiency.
The Honda City Hatchback is also offered with a regular petrol powertrain here in Malaysia, where you’ll find a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder DOHC engine underneath the bonnet, making 121 hp and 145 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.
Wow, really love your adventures with the car.
