Volkswagen has launched the new locally-assembled (CKD) Passat R-Line with more power and features starting from RM212,938 with SST exemptions. Also included are 5-years unlimited mileage warranty, 3-years free maintenance and 5-years roadside assistance.
It’s worth noting that the new 2022 Passat R-Line now cost around RM8,000 more than the model launched in October 2020. So what are you getting then?
PERFORMANCE
For starters, the Passat R-Line comes with 30 hp and 30 Nm more than before, now producing 220 hp and 350 Nm from a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine to power the front wheels. Unlike the 7-speed unit in the older model, the new Passat R-Line now uses a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Like before, the 2022 Passat R-Line continues to offer Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) feature with adaptive suspension and a drive mode selector. Unlike the Passat Elegance, the R-Line also gets the Electronic Differential Lock (XDS) for better handling.
EXTERIOR
The R-Line package comes with sportier front bumpers with black accents and rear bumpers with chrome, R-Line logo on the side and front grille and extensions for the door sill. The 2022 Passat R-Line also comes with a new colour called Scale Gray, offered alongside four different colours.

There are no changes to the exterior including the wheel design compared to the 2020 model however the Passat is only the second Volkswagen model in Malaysia to wear the new logo, after the all-new Mk8 Golf which was previewed in Malaysia recently.
INTERIOR
The Passat R-Line package consists of a black headliner, front and rear aluminium scuff plates and sports pedals, leather-wrapped multi-function sports steering wheel. Boot space is rated at 596-litres.

SAFETY
