Porsche to introduce the more extreme 718 Cayman GT4 “RS” very soon!

Porsche has announced that the already very potent 718 Cayman GT4 RS will soon have a bigger brother – the 718 Cayman GT4 RS – set for its world premiere in November.

According to Porsche, the GT4 RS has demonstrated its potential impressively; around twisty mountain roads and on the track, more specifically on the Nurburgring.

Astonishingly, the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS lapped the shorter 20.6 km circuit in just 7:04.511 minutes. That’s about 23.6 seconds faster than the benchmark set by its younger brother, the Cayman GT4 through the same distance. A time of 7:09.300 was set when the GT4 RS lapped the full circuit.

The Cayman GT4 RS used for testing was only equipped with a racing seat and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres; the latter is an optional item for the GT4 RS. There was even a judge present to confirm the standard condition and weight of the car.

“During development, we gave the 718 Cayman GT4 RS everything that characterises a genuine RS: lightweight construction, more downforce, more power, and of course, an even higher level of responsiveness and feedback to driver inputs. The fantastic lap time of the Nordschleife is impressive proof of how clearly noticeable these improvements in driving dynamics are,” says Directors GT Model Line, Andreas Preuninger.

He also confidently added that Porsche’s enthusiast customers can look forward to a pure driver’s car that makes a thrilling driving experience an absolute priority.”

“The GT4 RS is one of the sharpest cars Porsche has ever developed. You really have had to experience the breathtaking noise it makes for yourself,” said development driver Jörg Bergmeister, who has spent more than 500 hours in the 718 Cayman GT4 RS during testing and development.
