Allianz to speed up settlements for flood claims in Kedah, Penang & Perak

Allianz General has announced that they’ve mobilised teams to assist flood victims in areas such as Kedah, Penang, and Perak with claim settlements.

States in the Northern Region are on high alert after warnings issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, as more rain is expected in the coming days.

“Our flood claims initiative has always been about putting our customers first. We know how difficult it is to deal with floods. We need to support them and with fast claims payout to help them get back on their feet quickly,” said Allianz General, Head of Claims, Damian Williams.

Certain areas on Penang island have seen knee-high water levels while Kedah has been hit with massive landslides after continuous rain.

According to the Malaysia National Disaster Command Centre (NDCC), around 72 families have been evacuated from their homes as of last week. A separate report later claimed that more than 300 households have been affected.

Allianz General has put its 4×4 pick-up trucks and a team of claims adjusters on standby and customers only need to call 1-800-22-5542 to lodge a claims request. Allianz General will then assign an adjuster to assist with the customer’s claims as soon as possible.

For individual policyholders (such as Smart Home Cover), Allianz General will provide a full claim settlement or an interim payment within five days, after a site visit from the adjuster.

Customers with fire insurance (commercial) can expect an interim payment within five days, with a full claim settlement to be paid out between 21 and 28 days, after a visit from the adjuster.

If for any reason the company is unable to settle the claim before the 28th day, a second interim payment will be made.
