While the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has resumed by-appointment-only services at its offices that are not affected by the EMCO, the department is proceeding with new directives to ensure the rakyat is not inconvenienced.
JPJ has decided to extend the validity of key documents under its purview which are unable to be performed at its offices between June 1st and July 31st.

The inspection certifications done at Puspakom such as B2, B5, PG11A and PG13B will have their expiry extended to September 30th. For commercial vehicles that require the periodic inspections that fall in the said 61-day period, JPJ will allow the said to be done after July 31 st and exclusion of summons.
Under the Transfer of Ownership (Tukar Hak Milik) process performed under the MySikap system, the new owner is now given until September 30th to perform his/her biometric verification.
For buyers of new vehicle registration number (number plate), the JPJ will automatically extend the expiry to September 30th for all vehicle categories. An extension of three months is also granted to applications for the destroyed and stolen registration number.
As for driver licencing, the CDL (competent, our regular Class D licence), GDL (goods) and PSV (public service such as e-hailing and taxi) are granted expiry extensions until November 11th. The same goes for holders of Probation license to the CDL licence.
For drivers using the International Driving Permit (IDP), the extension follows the date of the end of any form or version of MCO.
The validity of the road tax has earlier been given an extension. Even if it’s expired (for example July 7th expiry), be sure to have the road tax displayed on the windscreen, as it is an offence to drive without a road tax. Insurance coverage is no doubt necessary so place the cover note in the glove box or other storage compartment when using the vehicle.
