Proton Brunei is set to be the first recipient of an updated Proton X70, dubbed the X70 EE or Exclusive Edition. The configuration of this Premium 2WD variant is currently not on sale in Malaysia.
There seem to be no styling changes on this new Proton X70 other than the 19-inch wheel with Y-spoke design that is taken from the 2019 Geely Boyue Pro- a model that featured revised front and styling, bonnet and dashboard.

Apart from the bright metallic blue paintwork (reminds us of the Ocean Blue from the new 2019 Proton Iriz as well as the X50 TGDi Flagship we tested) with gloss black roof and side mirrors, the interior is also offered in a different colour compared to the units in Malaysia.
Black Nappa leather with subtle red highlights is used in this special Proton X70 EE edition for Brunei, a change from the brown shade fitted in the regular variants.
Only 37 units will be offered, in conjunction with the celebration of the 37th National Day of Brunei Darussalam and is now open for booking. Brunei was also the first export market for the 2020 Proton X70 that was locally-assembled at Proton’s Tanjung Malim plant.
The Proton X70 2WD Premium is powered by the 1.8-litre turbocharged engine generating 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The benchmark century sprint time is 9.5 seconds.
Last month, Proton export division managed to deliver 669 units, a 98-month high. As of May 2021, the total exports are just 100 units shy of the full-year figures the company managed to move internationally in 2020.
