Following the introduction of the Forester GT Edition last year, TC Subaru has now unveiled the Forester GT Lite Edition, bringing the GT Line treatment down to a lower price point of RM163,788 – on the road, without insurance, and inclusive of the sales tax exemptions.
Much like the original GT Edition, the new Forester GT Lite is also based on an existing variant, specifically the 2.0i-L variant here in Malaysia.
The new GT Lite Edition gets the full GT body kit designed in collaboration with Giken and Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi, consisting of new front and back bumpers with large black plastic panels and lip extensions, along with flashier side skirts, a new roof spoiler, and a larger exhaust finisher.
Aside from these changes though, the GT Lite Edition is essentially identical to the entry-level Subaru Forester available here in Malaysia. Other standard exterior equipment on the new GT Lite include LED headlights, daytime-running lights, and combination taillights, halogen fog lamps, as well as 17-inch alloys.
The interior is also unchanged from the 2.0i-L variant, which includes leather upholstery, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, electronic parking brake, cruise control, paddle shifters, and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment display with 360-degree surround view monitor as standard.
Powering the Subaru Forester GT Lite is the same 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-four boxer engine, which sends 156 hp and 196 Nm of torque to all four wheels via Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT gearbox and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.
The Subaru Forester GT Lite Edition is offered in seven colours – Crystal White Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Jasper Green Metallic, Horizon Blue Pearl, Sepia Bronze Metallic, Dark Grey Metallic, and Crystal Black Silica – and is now available for viewing at all Subaru showrooms nationwide.
